VT Services Completes Acquisition of AEPCO

VT Services (VT), the US arm of UK based defence and support services company VT Group, has completed the acquisition of military aviation support specialists Advanced Engineering and Planning Corp., Inc. (AEPCO), following US regulatory approval. 

AEPCO manages life cycle support programs, primarily for US Army helicopters and has a significant presence at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama – Headquarters of US Army Material Command (AMC) and US Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM).

The company, which will strengthen VT’s capabilities and service offerings in the US, employs approximately 450 people.

VT Group Chief Executive Paul Lester commented: “AEPCO will enable us to further improve our margins in the US, supplementing our existing work in base operations and systems upgrades for naval vessels.”

Michael D. Kapp Named President of VT Griffin

Michael Kapp has been promoted to the position of President of VT Griffin and key management member of the Board of Directors for VT Services Inc, a $500 Million aerospace and defense operating segment of VT Group plc.  He will also serve as Vice President of VT Services Inc.
VT Griffin employs some 3,000 employees in the United States across numerous government organizations and locations.  Mr. Kapp will lead this successful services provider in its continued growth with government organizations across military and civilian organizations.
“Mike brings tremendous leadership expertise and depth of knowledge in the government industry to this role,” said Kenneth Smith, CEO, VT Services. “We are looking forward to continued innovations and dedication to service and support of our customers’ mission with Mike at the helm.” Prior to Mr. Kapp’s current appointment in March, 2007, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for VT Griffin. Before joining VT in June 2005, he had been Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Lockheed Martin Aircraft and Logistics Centers. Additionally, he served as a board member for several key joint ventures at Lockheed Martin.

Mr. Kapp is an active member of the Professional Services Council and other industry associations. He is also a key management board member on several VT joint ventures.

WICC Receives Contractor Excellence Award

The VT Griffin/Wallops Institutional Consolidated Contract (WICC) team at Wallops Island, Virginia recently received Goddard Space Flight Center’s Contractor Excellence Award. This award is given to the Goddard Space Flight Center contractor that has made a substantial contribution to the Center’s mission. The recipient of the award also has demonstrated a philosophy of continuous improvement which has achieved measurable advances in product and service outcomes. The WICC was also specifically cited for their strengths in the area of customer satisfaction, technical performance, scheduling, cost controls and innovation. VT Griffin competed for the award in the large business category and was measured against many well established defense and NASA contractors.

VT Milcom Awarded GD-NS QSP Silver-Level Status for Inside & Outside Plant Services.

VT Milcom has been awarded General Dynamics-Network Systems Quality Service Provider (QSP) Program status for 2006. The QSP Program is a formal initiative by GD-NS to partner with companies that provide exceptional technical services in the highly specialized and diverse areas of: outside plant construction; inside plant premise wiring; voice switch engineering; and data networking.

VT Milcom has been a QSP participant since 2002 and since that time has been awarded a continuous series of Gold and Silver level achievements for ISP and OSP work performed worldwide. VT Milcom was selected under a rigorous set of standards which include technical and management expertise, resources, financial viability, and proven past performance.
