Electrical:
-
VT Group provides operations and maintenance services to the
primary electrical system which includes: electrical power
distribution, lighting, uninterrupted power source (UPS), emergency
generators and cathode protection.
-
We operate and control the base power grid, including four
substations, two metering stations and all of the equipment
associated with them. We control and maintain the backup
generators which can and do provide the base with its own power
source, including Black-Start. We also maintain and control
shore power for the sub-marines at the Refit docks, EHW's and the
Site Six pier.
Wastewater:
-
VT Group has successfully
addressed environmental concerns requiring special treatments for
waterfront and submarine wastewater due to the high concentration
of oily waste, various heavy metals and high or low pH. We are
ISO-certified for handling hazardous and industrial waste derived
from wastewater treatment systems.
Central Steam Plant:
-
We operate and maintain the
Central Thermal Plant (CTP) and associated distribution systems
including all BTU meters, medium temperature hot water (MTHW) heat
exchangers and MTHW control valves, satellite facility boilers, and
portable boilers.
Water System:
-
VT Group operates and maintains the Naval Base Kings Bay, Ga.'s
water system including pumping, treatment, storage and distribution
of all potable water. We manage three deep wells, one
treatment plant, one fire booster pump station, two elevated water
tanks (750,000 gallon and 1.0 million gallon) and two ground-level
water tanks (400,000 gallon and 500,000 gallon).
-
We perform daily testing at each operating storage tank.
In addition, we operate, inspect and maintain the fire booster pump
station and associated equipment. We are also responsible for
the accurate reading of up to 80 water meters monthly.
